I feels so much like a newbie....
I have a confession to make, NS will be my first HL multiplayer mod (if you don't count LAN games and Diablo 2). I've decided I want to start with the best MP mod (and I have no intentions of being a llama). Well I have some questions...
1.) Do I have to hunt down a special HL server to play or does it refer to my regular server? If I do, where and how do I hunt one down?
2.) What is good ping and how do I find out mine (btw I have a cable modem so what's the average for them)?
3.) Any other advice?

As stated, below 100 is good. (I never play on anything below a 50 myself, but then again I'm hooked directly into an internet backbone, so...
As for servers, they just need to be playing NS. The servers don't work like they do in D2, where you have one server running a lot of games. You have one server per game. This server could be running DMC, this server could be running TFC, this server could be running CS, and a hundred servers will all be running NS! ON THE FIRST DAY! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!
Jebus, I practically never get any lower then 240, staying at around 320 usually.
So I usually ping at around 30 to 40 when playing on European servers. But anything below 100 is fine.
If NS is going to be your first Multiplayer mod then you will be a spoiled brat ( joke ) imagine having to play all those other horrible on-line games like that mod with the halo and the electric drill..anyone knows what the ___ is up with that?
Maybe its a good idea to play some teamfortress classic while you are waiting for ns to come out...TFC Looks nowhere near as cool as NS but it has some elements wich could be usefull for you to practice such as working together in a team or making keybinds for quick communication( for those who dont have voicecomms )
However ... Gamespy Arcade is a different matter completely.
This program is the worst pos I've ever seen in my entire 19 years of existence ...
I'm a beast now! Roar!
